How Many Pizzas Do I Need? Washington, D.C. Party & Office Quantity Calculator (10-150 Guests)

Have a large party to plan for? The only thing to worry about should be the guest list, not how many pizza to order. Whether you’re planning a kid’s birthday in Dupont Circle, a working lunch near Capitol Hill, or a family game night in Silver Spring, the question is always the same: how many pizzas for a party?

Order too little and guests eye the last slice. Order too much and you’ll have days of cold leftovers no one wants. To make planning easy, we created a clear pizza-per-person chart, which will serve as your go-to guide when you’ve got guests to cater to.

In this blog, we’ve simplified an easy-to-use order guide and pizza-per-person chart. It’s D.C.-tested and menu-accurate for groups of 10 to 150, including our take on how many wings per person and simple add-ons like subs and salads. Everything here is a streamlined version of our Party Math, so you can plan next week’s menu with confidence.

Slices & Servings Per Person

According to our Party Math guide, here is what every D.C. host should know:

  • Pizza: 2–3 slices per guest
  • Wings: 4–6 pieces per guest
  • Subs: ½ sub per guest
  • Salads: approximately 1 cup per guest

This range covers light eaters and guests who may come back for seconds, without causing over-ordering. For a lunch meeting or a school event, portions usually stay on the lower end. For late-night study sessions or weekend watch parties, it makes sense to increase the count.

In our catering menu, we offer everything needed to create a balanced spread, including pizzas made with fresh dough daily (small to XL), crispy wings in 7- or 14-piece options, hearty 8-inch and 16-inch subs, and refreshing salads. You can browse our full catering and menu options.

Pizza Rule of Thumb for Groups (Quick Math)

Assorted Manny & Olga’s party catering spread featuring pizzas, wings, subs, and pasta trays arranged for a D.C. event.

Now that we have the basics down, here’s a quick way to size things for real-life gatherings. From our Party Math examples (for instance, 20 guests = about 6 pizzas), you can see a straightforward rule:

  • Plan to serve one pizza for every 3–4 guests, rounding up if you know the group has hearty appetites.
  • This gives you total flexibility, since not every event calls for the same size order. If you also order wings, subs, or salads, you can comfortably stick with the 1:4 ratio. But for a pizza-only event, you can get closer to 1:3.
  • Use our Party Math guide to help you portion when you order. You can mix and match pizzas, wings, and sides from our Catering page, and our team will portion everything for you.

Pro tip: If there are teens, sports fans, or night owls in the crowd, err on the side of having more. Corporate lunches and family gatherings may want to plan less.

With this rule in mind, we are already close to a perfect order. Next, let’s break it down by group size.

Pizza Per Person Chart

The numbers below are based on our guideline of 1 pizza for every 3–4 guests and our Party Math baseline for wings. You should also round up, because nobody complains about having an extra slice.

For 10 guests:
• 3–4 pizzas
• 40–60 wings

For 15 guests:
• 4–5 pizzas
• 60–90 wings

For 20 guests:
• 5–7 pizzas
• 80–120 wings

For 25 guests:
• 7–9 pizzas
• 100–150 wings

For 30 guests:
• 8–10 pizzas
• 120–180 wings

For 40 guests:
• 10–14 pizzas
• 160–240 wings

For 50 guests:
• 13–17 pizzas
• 200–300 wings

For 75 guests:
• 19–25 pizzas
• 300–450 wings

For 100 guests:
• 25–34 pizzas
• 400–600 wings

For 150 guests:
• 38–50 pizzas
• 600–900 wings

Why are there two different numbers? It comes down to flexibility, because appetite and event type both affect portions. So, for pizza-only nights, use the higher numbers. But for a mixed spread (meaning pizza, wings, subs, and salads), the lower numbers usually give you the best estimate.

Pizza Size & Mix: Medium, Large, XL

A simple way to balance quantity and variety is to offer different pizza sizes. Here is what you’ll find on our menu:

  • 10″ Small: Ideal for smaller groups or kids.
  • 12″ Medium: Versatile size (also available with a gluten-free crust).
  • 14″ Large: The go-to for most occasions.
  • 16″ XL (where available): Perfect for large appetites or group orders.

As for toppings, choose a variety of items that appeal to all guests:

  • Classic: Cheese or Pepperoni
  • Balance: Vegetarian Pizza
  • Wild Card: My Big Fat Greek Pizza (with gyro meat) or BBQ Chicken Pizza

To keep things simple, stick with 1–2 toppings per pie, especially for large orders during peak delivery in D.C. or Silver Spring.
